French 20th Century Intaglio Mirror
-
Description
A unique 20th century French mirror alluding to the Grand Tour of the 1800s, displays a collection of plaster intaglio–painted black–mounted on a carved wood frame in weathered turquoise with patinated black border for a unified look. The frame’s Moorish silhouette arches at the top in a peak which creates a pediment for the largest intaglio to be appreciated, whereas the smaller examples are spaced at regular intervals around the perimeter. This unusual design will bring a cultivated and worldly aesthetic to nearly any room across a range of decorating tastes. The original mirror plate has no apparent oxidation and minimal crystallization. Please view the detailed images to see the current condition of this rare find.
