French Louis Philippe Silver Gilt Mirror
-
Description
A silver gilt Louis Philippe style mirror hand-crafted in France in the 19th century. Rectangular in shape with rounded corners that create an elegant and timeless shape, the molded frame is decorated with luxurious silver leaf finish over etched geometric motifs that resemble stripes. The engraved inner frame has intricately carved pearl beading around the original mercury glass that shows some foxing and wonderful sparkling diamond dust at the bottom corners. In good antique condition this mirror has a rich thick gilt that is lustrous and further enhanced by its overall patina which brings in a striking bit of contrast that pairs well with the engraved geometrics. This marvelous Louis Philippe mirror could be added to any number of rooms to bring in a bit of traditional and sophisticated French style. Be sure to view all the images to see the details.
