Large French 19th Century Mantel Mirror
-
Description
A massive 19th century mantel mirror, made in the style of Louis XVI. Classic carved borders surround three sides; a tightly twisted rope, ribbon entwined with acanthus leaves, bead, and small lambs tongue. Featuring the original mercury mirror plate, some wonderful foxing is visible throughout and sparkles gathering on the bottom. A wonderful patina throughout, the gold gilt is slightly worn, revealing the bold red base. The elegant craftsmanship and size of this mirror make it an instant conversation started in any space. Make sure to view the detailed images for a closer look at the unique features.
