Piero Fornasetti Mirror with Decorative Blue and White Frame, 1950s
-
Description
The company's origins start from the art print shop Piero Fornasetti opened in the 1930s in Milan. The "Stamperia d'Arte Fornasetti" enjoyed some success in Milan's cultural milieu; Raffaele Carrieri in 1978 wrote in Epoca, "He was the first to print lithographs of De Chirico in Milan in a rather remote time."
A key moment in the founding of the company was the meeting between Piero Fornasetti and Gio Ponti in the 1940s, which led to the opening of Atelier Fornasetti.
Here we have a big mirror with a decorative frame in light blue and white motifs. It is a very rare piece by Fornasetti designed for Casa Fornasetti itself.
