Audoux and Minet rope chair
Vibo Vesoul, France, c1940 - four available

  • Description
French designers Adrien Audoux and Frida Minet were committed to a design ethos based on accessible materials as a means of serving modern life. In reaction to the Paris Exposition des Arts Decoratifs et Industriels of 1925, which they deemed to only cater to a wealthy elite they set to ground their designs in something more homespun, even rustic. Their designs for Vibo Vesoul, produced using seagrass rope cord, became their leitmotiv – now highly sought after.

This armchair sums up their humble ambitions, using the natural beauty of oak and rope. The rope is in original condition, the wood has been woodworm treated and restored, keeping its original patina as much as possible.
