Description
Alessandro Mendini designed the Terra chair in 1974 for Bracciodiferro, the company he created together with Gaetano Pesce to make limited production items and to explore the era’s most innovative trends.
The production was intended to run 100 pieces but only 20 pieces have been made, this one being number 17. The Terra chair is made of plexiglas filled with dark earth and cork and makes a reference to the elementary act of sitting on the ground.
Mendini’s work for Bracciodiferro was “to subvert the environments in which it is placed […] They are things and non-things, sub-objects, scenic items of furniture which, due to their extravagant presence, unhinge the standard logic of a home.” -
