Description One of the most widely sold chairs of its day - and still in production. Inspired by Charles & Ray Eames - Arne Jacobsen, who studied architecture at the Royal Academy, created in 1955 a single shell seat out of molded teak plywood that became Model 3107 ( Series 7 or butterfly chair) and connected this to four simple steel legs. Stackable. This version had its precursor in Jacobsen's "Ant" chair from 1952 with very similar design of slim waist, but with only three legs. Offered is a set of six in good condition and produced by the Danish powerhouse Fritz Hansen in 1978 and includes steel braces under each seat that can be pulled out to attach chairs in a row. Stamped and dated at bottom. Minor wear at edges and one chair with slight veneer separation at front (though intact).
Styles / Movements Mid Century, Modern, Scandinavian Modern
