An Arne Jacobsen pot chair, model 3318, comprising a low-profile frame with a vessel-shaped seat that floats over four chromed steel legs. Deceptively spacious and comfortable chair that was originally designed by Jacobsen in 1959 for Copenhagen’s SAS Royal Hotel along with the Egg and Swan chairs but considerably less well-recognized, likely due to its comparatively unassuming form.
This example retains the original Fritz Hansen cognac leather upholstery which the purists in us have fallen in love with just as is. A functional artifact of sorts, it's distressed with all sorts of age-related wear (but intact). The seat foam is comfortable and still has some life but that of the frame has largely dried out (the interior more so than the exterior). Although we could reupholster for you, we chose the chair specifically for its wabi-sabi aesthetic and we hope you will as well - - it’s a survivor with particular allure for a particular sort of collector. Signed beneath as shown.
