Description

A classic design by one of the leading lights of the Scandinavian Modern movement who preferred traditional materials to create unexpected forms. The Ilona sofa was likely designed in the late 1960s - though production did not begin until after his death in 1971. A lightweight bentwood beech frame is pulled together with saddle leather, canvas and brass buckles. Like the Safari chair tradition from which the design is drawn, no nails or glue is used in its construction. Later 20th century production by Norell Møbel AB, Sweden. With label. New soft wool upholstery. Normal (light) wear to leather and frame.
