ARP, pair of armchairs in natural beech. For the upholstering we have used a white bouclè fabric by Dedar.
"The ARP (Atelier de Recherche Plastique) was founded in 1954 by Pierre Guariche, Michel Mortier and Joseph-André Motte, three young friends and designers. Thanks to the foundation of this group, the three designers wanted to change the classicism codes by designing new forms to create more accessible furniture. Major pieces of the 20th Century are the result of this new and fruitful association: as an example, the series of storage furniture for producer Minvielle or the armchairs for Steiner. Joseph-André Motte and Michel Mortier have both studied Applied Arts. Pierre Guariche graduated from a Decorative Arts school. They met each other while working for the agency founded by Marcel Gascoin. They soon realized that they had a common project: to create an association and to design a series of furniture for the manufacturer Charles Minvielle. One year after the foundation of the group, the three designers already won a prize at a competition organized by Centre technique du bois. The concept was to design practical furniture for small surfaces. The plastics research workshops ended in 1957. "
