Description The Rooster Folding Stool designed by Design/Build architect Barry Simpson. A brilliant, quirky stool design that’s both simple and highly functional. Stools are constructed of graphic, cut-out varnished plywood panels which are in very good condition, with some mild discoloration. The base is designed with symmetrical plywood pieces that take the overall shape of an "X" with a circular window at the center when open. These cutouts fold into place when closed, creating easy to carry handles.

Barry Simpson is among a handful of Yale architecture graduates who moved to Mad River Vallery, Vermont in the mid-1960s. There, these designers cultivated a radical, sustainable and socially conscious architecture practice characterized by natural materials and spontaneous processes. An example of this stool can be seen in the permanent collection of the Brooklyn Museum in New York.
