Description A Rare pair of Bauhaus lounge chairs in the style of Erich Dieckmann in Germany, 1931. These are a later production from most likely the 1960s, manufactured for Metz&Co in the Netherlands.

These iconic chairs have a very recognizable frame made of tubular chrome plated metal in a beautiful shape. This experimental design makes it an iconic Dieckmann piece. The seats are made of wicker and it has black wooden armrests as a perfect finishing touch. Dieckmann experimented with the possibilities of tubular metal, trying to create the strongest possible structure with minimal use of materials. For this design, it created a beautiful appearance and impressive seating comfort!

The seats remain in good, vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina. There is only two very minor damages to the wicker, only visible from up close and not affecting the seating comfort or structure.

Erich Dieckmann (1896-1944) is know to have been, together with Marcel Breuer, the most important Bauhaus designer. Just like Breuer he experimented with tubular steel. He also earned fame from his standardized wooden furniture. His chair designs are produced in series, in which he experimented with modular systems. His goal was to create strong, minimalist furniture with clear use of shapes. Later in his carreer, Dieckmann focused on outdoor furniture from rattan and wicker.
