-
Description
Gianfranco Frattini lounge chairs Model '849' for Cassina in aniline cognac leather, Italy 1956. New upholstered. This model features a walnut frame which holds the seat and backrest. A shell forms the seat in an elegant way, where the seat rests on the wooden frame and the armrest flow smoothly over. The other shell forms the backrest, which is also kept in place by the frame. The 849 chair won the design award 'Compasso d'Oro' in 1956. Gianfranco Frattini (1926-2004) was an Italian designer and architect. Similarly, to many other architects, Frattini became an interior and Industrial designer because he missed the specific furnishings for his buildings. Frattini was a very skilled woodworker and was a student of Gio Ponti. His style can be defined by its architectural structure and playful lines.
