Description This set of chairs bears close resemblance to two other sets of chairs made by Duncan Phyfe. One set Phyfe made for his daughter Eliza Vail and another for Mr. and Mrs. John Lawrence Manning of Millford Plantation in South Carolina. The serpentine crest connects with the half-serpentine stiles to form a frame for the inset upholstered back. The cabriole front legs are complimented by swept back rear legs.
