Description During an era of exploration of new techniques, materials, styles and designers, it is always remarkable how much of the Deco movement root in a glimpse of the past. The presence of French Neoclassical furniture, specifically the Louis XVI form, is particularly well represented during the 40s and is also remarkably high quality. The present example is no exception, being crafted with traditional techniques and eye to detail in close replication of the late 18th century originals.

The paint is particularly rich with a beige overall ground color with the speckling so common in the era highlighted by gilded framing throughout. This has worn naturally and is made richer with a verdigris oxidization occurring randomly throughout.

With large overall proportions, the chair is covered in a high-quality soft woven linen fabric, stuffed with down in the bolster and cushion. The result is unusually comfortable.

This fantastic decorator chair is rich, fun, vibrant and built to last the test of time. We have a second identical chair that is currently being restored and may be available in the shop - contact for updates if you do not see this in our current shop inventory.
