These beautiful “Revolt” folding chairs were designed by Friso Kramer and manufactured by Ahrend de Cirkel in the Netherlands in 1953.

They are an impressive find of design history. These chairs were used in the Protestant Pavilion at the famous Brussels Expo, held in 1958. This pavilion was placed very close to the Atomium in the center of the expo and was designed by Swiss architect Mr. Calamé-Rosset. The Revolt chairs were an important part of it’s unique identitiy. Later it was bought by and used as The American Protestant Church of The Hague. The entire church including it’s interior was moved to The Hague in the Netherlands.

The sanctuary chairs of this church were the Revolt chairs. Their uniqueness lies in the curved steel plate structure, the synthetic material used for the seat and back and the visible nails by which they are attached. This Industrial style was revolutionary at the time. In 2007, these chairs were included in a series of Dutch national stamps!

This model can fold in for easy movement and storage. The black metal frame and green colour of the seat and back compliment the style very nicely. This is a unique chance to obtain a special piece of Dutch design with an impressive history! Please reach out to us to for accurate stock information. They remain in good vintage condition with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.
