Description A chair-sculpture with a pure and rational form. An authentic manifesto of the objective approach of Neoplasticism, promoted by the Dutch movement De Stijl in 1917. A poetics also encouraged by Piet Mondrian, whose goal was the search for the essential nature of things, the harmonic equivalence of colors and the exclusive use of the right angle. Rietveld works on the first prototypes in 1918, expressing the philosophy of organization of space through the monochromy of the elements. Later he applied chromatic differentiation to separate the constructive parts according to their functions, arriving at juxtaposing the black structure with the colored supporting parts. Hence also the variation of the name of the work, that from Slat Chair became Red and Blue.
Produced by Cassina starting from 1973.
