American Studio Craft Tri-Leg Chair in Oak with Woven Seat after Hans Wegner

$ 4,600
  • Description
    A remarkable, tri-legged studio crafted chair executed in solid oak and finished with a beautifully-patterned handwoven papercord seat. The undulating armrests are supported by Danish-style dowel legs, the one at rear gently arced and then bifurcated at the seat to form the open “Y” backrest. The wood finish has been lightly conditioned and is ever-so-slightly ‘raw’ for a wonderful tactile quality that speaks to its handmade pedigree and the seat has been professionally rewoven exactly as the original. A striking design that confirms that less is definitely more.

    There’s a branded cipher above what appears to be the date “12/16/87” to the underside and although the craftsman’s identity remains anonymous for the time being, his or her inspiration couldn’t be more evident - - the design would seem a perfect amalgam of Hans Wegner’s iconic JH-501 and CH-24 chairs.

    *Available to view in situ at our showroom in Bushwick, Brooklyn. In addition to traditional business hours, we also offer nighttime and extended weekend appointments for your convenience. Please inquire with us directly to schedule a visit.
