About: Introducing a rare, limited bespoke custom-restored authentic Model CH24 Wishbone chair designed by the incomparable Hans Wegner for Carl Hansen & Søn and imported by Illums Bolighus. Featuring a new hand-stitched leather seat in a fabulous hazelnut brown tone perfectly coupled with hand-sanded solid-oak frame left unfinished this CH24 is the epitome of extraordinary. Unquestionably the Wishbone is the most recognizable chair model of the 20th and 21st Centuries designed by the undisputed master of chair design; Hans Wegner. This reimagined, authentic Danish-made Model CH24 has been a passion project by our restoration team in homage of the late great Hans Wegner and the dedicated artisans who created this masterpiece of modern design.

Among all furniture designers, Hans J. Wegner (1914-2007) is considered one of the most creative, innovative, and prolific especially amongst his Scandinavian counterparts. Often referred to as the master of the chair, Wegner created almost 500 in his lifetime – many of them now considered masterpieces. Wegner was part of the spectacular generation that created what is today referred to as the Golden Age of modern Danish design.

His iconic Wishbone Chair, designed in 1948, is probably the most well-known and has been in continuous production since 1950. Inspired by the seats of the Royal Ming Dynasty the Wishbone is made up of 14 separate components which require 100 individual processes to chisel, carve, sand, and shape, adding nearly three weeks of preparation time before the chair can even begin to be assembled.

With its sleek, ergonomically-minded wooden frame sanded natural and new hand-stitched leather seat this truly one-of-a-kind chair is perfect for designers and collectors alike searching for an authentically vintage, Danish-made Wishbone chair with its own unique, BOLD character. Condition Details: This iconic Model CH24 Wishbone chair has recently undergone a comprehensive and transformative restoration process and the results speak for themselves.

The solid oak frame has been hand-sanded and left unfinished, giving this ubiquitous chair model a sense of definition and character. The wood shows only minor nicks and surface scratches but no stains, cracks or damage whatsoever.

The seat has been re-strapped and reupholstered in a rich, thick-cut genuine leather hide in a fabulous hazelnut brown tone perfectly off-setting the natural wood tones of the solid oak frame.

This bespoke, custom-designed and hand-restored chair is incredibly comfortable, structurally sound and ready for a literal lifetime more of use.
