Description
A pair of Jugendstil armchairs by Austrian architect and designer Hugo Gorge (1883 - 1934). The chairs have a wooden frame with a sculptural openwork backrest and a fabric upholstery with floral decorations.
Hugo Gorge was an exponent of early Austrian Modernism. He designed a duplex house for the Werkbundsiedlung in Vienna (1932), which also included designs by his contemporaries like Josef Frank, Adolf Loos and Richard Neutra. -
