Kenneth Bergenblad “Spider” Lounge Chair for Dux Möbel AB, Sweden 1982

Sold Sold
  • Description
This DUX “Spider” lounge chair is one of the Swedish designer’s most recognisable pieces. The name is inspired by the insect-like legs supporting the body. Originally designed as a recliner chair in 1982, this model quickly became a design classic even in its time.

Combining pleasant design with exciting materials has always been Kenneth Bergenblad’s core ideal. The body is reclining with sectional, upholstered parts, thanks to which the comfort of this chair became legendary. Thanks to the outstanding ergonomics of this lounge chair, the whole body of the sitter is supported. The black frame is made of polished stainless steel with visible joinery and bolts. This sleek lounge chair on a spidery metal base has an unmatched design that looks modern, elegant and stylish at the same time. This balance of shapes, colours and materials is a key concept for the awarded Swedish designer, Kenneth Bergenblad.

The geometrical, industrial looking modern frame is complimented by the soft upholstery with a premium fabric that covers the ten sections of this lounge chair. The Spider’s original padding with DUX Pascal springs was patented, which is why originals like this model are remarkably valuable.
