Description Rare sofa in teak and faux dark brown leather from the High Court of Chandigarh (Sector 1, Capitol Complex) designed by Pierre Jeanneret and Le Corbusier.
This model has a slightly sloping backrest and a solid bridge structure.
According to expert studies of Chandigarh design, this model belongs to a small production of 30-100 pieces circa (standard classification "PJ-SI-42-B").
The rarity of this piece is further enhanced by the presence of a typical hand-stenciled marking on the rear crossbar that reads "GCCIW (L) - 6" probably indicating a specific section of the high court where it was originally installed in.
The sofa has been reconditioned and reupholstered, it's in excellent conditions throughout with a minor cut (2cm / 0.75in) on the upper frame of the backrest as show in the picture.
