Pair of Lounge Chairs, Martin Eisler and Carlo Hauner, Iron and Leather, Brazil, 1960's
This modern and extremely elegant lounge chair was designed by Martin Eisler and Carlo Hauner, two of the biggest names in the Brazilian mid-century modern design movement. The organic shape of the seating is one of their most famous trademarks, and it is beautifully explored in this piece. Besides that, this organicity also allows for a very comfortable seating, ideal for living rooms and reception areas. The legs of the armchairs are made of corten-painted steel, which creates a beautiful contrast with the leather.
We have opted to do not restore the chairs at this point, but we are fully equipped to reupholster and renovate the structure, so do not hesitate to contact our specialists if you wish a different finishing.
Please note that the price is per piece, not for the set.
Martin Eisler (1913-1977) and Carlo Hauner (1927-1997) were the main designers creating for the iconic Brazilian furniture manufacturer Forma.
European-born, Eisler emigrated in 1938 to Buenos Aires, Argentina, before moving to Brazil in the early 1950s. Hauner— hailing from Brescia, Italy and educated in technical drawing at Milan’s Brera Academy—arrived in South America a bit later, in 1949. The two met for the first time, in São Paulo and were inspired to merge their production companies into one—the company which, after a series of name changes, eventually became Forma.
