Paul Evans Set of 6 Rare and Important Dining Chairs 1969 (signed)
-
Description
Rare and important set of 6 sculptural dining chairs in bronzed resin with upholstered seats by Paul Evans, American 1969 (signed "PE 69" in resin). This model of dining chair is very unusual and very comfortable. This piece was created from a mixture of epoxy resin and sand applied to a plywood base and sculpted into various swirls, drips and other patterns. Once hardened, the piece was sandblasted, sprayed with an atomized bronze finish, varnished, blown with a torch to provide a smoky look, polished, and then varnished again. The resulting work has a metallic sheen but is lightweight compared with something made of cast bronze. Seats have been newly upholstered in a beautiful blue fabric by Lobel Modern.
Provenance:
