Pair of restored slippers CM190 by Pierre Paulin (1958)
-
Description
Pair of CM190 low chairs by Pierre Paulin produced by Thonet at the end of the 1950s. A listed model, presented in the book “les décorateurs des années 50” by Patrick Favardin (page 261). The tubular base in black lacquered metal supports the foam seats newly covered with a light yellow linen fabric from Maison Pierre Frey. These seats with a resolutely modern design are very popular with amateurs and collectors.
Designer: Pierre Paulin (1927-2009), world famous artist, studied at the Camando school and started in the workshops of Marcel Gascoin. In 1953, at the Household Arts Fair, his creations were noticed by the public and by the publisher Thonet with whom he started a collaboration on models that had become design icons such as the CM141 desk or the CM190 low chair. -
