Description
18th century bannister-back 'greate chaire' / armchair.
Found hanging in a barn in the Connecticut River Valley.
With yoke crest rail above four molded balusters, vase- and ring-turned stiles and arm supports, shaped arms and double stretcher base. This chair has an almost "folk" like quality about it. Look at the great height on those finials.
Please contact me with by phone with any additional questions you may have.
Retains an 1780's green over original 1740's red painted surface. Original rush seat with old homespun fabric cover. -
