Description A luxurious sleeping sofa designed by Rob Parry, manufactured by Gelderland (Netherlands) around 1960.

This eye-catching sofa has a beautiful steel base, warm brown wooden armrests and is newly upholstered in high quality grey fabric by De Ploeg. This combination of materials and the Minimalist design creates a beautiful, elegant style. The seat can be pulled out to create a bed position. It has a very recognizable shape, making this a true piece of Dutch design history.

The sofa remains in very good condition, with minor wear consistent with age and use, preserving a beautiful patina.

About the designer:
Rob Parry (born in The Hague, Netherlands, 1925) studied at the Royal Academy of Art, The Hague where his most important teachers were Cor Alons, Paul Schuitema and Gerrit Rietveld, whom Parry worked for. It was Rietveld’s firm that laid the foundation for Parry’s interest in exhibition design.
In 1950, Rob Parry started his own firm. Emile Truijen was his design partner from 1954-1958. Together they developed a myriad of designs, including one of the icons of Dutch design: the double post box. Up until 1995, he designed interiors, furniture, stands, exhibitions, jewelry, lettering and toys.
In his designs, Rob Parry experimented with new materials and techniques.
Designs by Rob Parry are included in the collections of the Stedelijk Museum in Amsterdam, Boijmans Van Beuningen Museum in Rotterdam, the Museum for Communication in The Hague and the Stedelijk Museum in ’s Hertogenbosch.
