Description
Set of three Empire Chair, Cherry Veneer, Swan Back Decor, South Germany circa 1815/20
Beautiful Empire / early Biedermeier chairs. Cherry veneer and solid, shellac hand polished. Newly upholstered with black chenille fabric and double keder. Elegantly curved legs and convex frame to the front.
Wonderful back carving of 2 intertwined ebonized swan necks with original gilt patinated swan heads.
One chair has a slightly reddish tint and thinner veneer and is likely added to the set later in the second half of the 19th century. The swan back decor of the the third reddish chair seems to be from the Empire era.
Also for sale individually, please contact us if interested in just 1 or 2 chairs.
