Set of 6 Chippendale style chairs, lacquered in black, with the characteristic bamboo design that made this design popular. Carved wooden frame imitating bamboo, in a very popular Chinese style especially during the Victorian period. The seat is really comfortable and is upholstered in a very pleasant warm grey fabric that matches this very special design. Thomas Chippendale is one of the most celebrated cabinetmakers in the United Kingdom for his Georgian, Rococo and Neoclassical designs. So influential were his designs, both in Britain and throughout Europe and America, that "Chippendale" became a shorthand description for any piece of furniture similar to his style.
