Description This set of 8 classical chairs was the work of a highly skilled chairmaker in Boston in the first half of the 19th Century. A pair of chairs almost identical to these is in the Henry Francis DuPont Winterthur Museum (see magazine picture sitting on one of our chairs). The design is inspired by the chairs and decorative motifs of ancient Greece and Rome. The excellent detailed carving and and flawless proportions make these chairs outstanding. They are as strong and sturdy as they are beautiful and they are ready to make a statement of style in your dining room. The slip seats are easy to remove for reupholstering and cleaning. The finish appears to have been restored around 50 years ago.
