Unique English Oak Side Chair, Circa 1885

  • Description
Late 19th century very unique English side chair in solid oak with carved back in floral motif. Two long vertical open slats (one to each side of the back) add to the unique design of this Victorian chair. The top carved and crested rail with a recessed scroll, surmounts dental grillwork trim. Typical heavy trumpet turnings to the straight front legs are connected to the back legs by a plane round turned stretcher.
The seat is splayed from the back and chamfered on the edges; providing additional detail. Very nice condition with original surface and excellent color and patina.
