19th Century English Campaign Secretaire Chest
-
Description
This is a wonderful mid-19th century English Campaign Secretaire Chest. The chest is in overall very good condition and appears to retain its original surface (perhaps old refinish), leather writing slide and hardware. We acquired the chest from a family that had owned the chest for the past 80 to 90 years, which accounts for its fine condition. The left back leg has been braced internally sometime in the past but is in very sturdy condition. The pale walnut color is an uncommon detail. The interior of the secretaire section is mahogany with walnut cubbies. The red of the original leather adds an extra element of interest.
