Description A Regency Rosewood, Parcel-Gilt and Brass-Inlaid Center Table.
The highly figured top over the deep frieze with brass 'contre partie' decoration of anthemia and scrolling foliage; raised on a boldly reeded pedestal support on a tripartite base with winged feet.

The brass contre partie decoration on the frieze of this table reflects the interest in the Louis XIV–style after the restoration of the Bourbon monarchy in France in 1814. The marquetry arabesque panels in metal or wood of Boulle work, so-called after Louis XIV’s ébéniste du roi Andre-Charles Boulle, was popular enough for the French émigré cabinetmaker Louis Le Gaigneur to open his own Buhl Manufactory in London around 1815, supplying none other than the Prince Regent.
