Renou & Génisset desk Produced by La Crémaillère, France, 1950s

Price Upon Request
  • Description
André Renou (1912-1980) and Jean-Pierre Génisset’s (1911-1998) designs centred functionalism and the reduction of form. Renou had been taught by Louis Sognot in the late 1920s and brought technical knowledge of working in wood. Génisset had a talent for understanding the importance of the final presentation of a concept or project. This elm desk, with its practical boomerang shape and pliable treatment of hefty wood is a perfect encapsulation of Renou and Génisset’s special partnership. Reminiscent of works by Charlotte Perriand and Pierre Chapo, it has a special provenance – it came out of a modernist house in central France designed and built by Le Corbusier’s master builder.

In good vintage condition, minor age wear. Some patina around the base of the desk, see pictures.
