Description Carl-Axel Beijbom was a farmer in the south of Sweden before he stumbled into design. According to legend, one day in the early 1960s, he found a uniquely beautiful plank of elmwood in the family's attic and was inspired to fabricate a table top. Friends who saw the table in his home would commission one for themselves, and soon enough Beijbom was able to transform his barn into a furniture workshop. His organic elmwood tables were much in demand, and each was made to order. The C. A. Beijbom workshop was active from the mid-1960s until the turn of the century, with production peaking during the late 1960s and early 1970s. Beijbom's sons continued to receive requests for new tables, but after their father's death they no longer produced them.
