French 19th Century Mahogany Server with Marble Top

A gorgeous mahogany server, topped in marble and made in France. This exceptional serving table dates to the end of the 19th Century. The black marble slab that rests atop the antique is full of fossilized specimens that have been captured in rock, on display to the curious, for all of time. Diatoms, honey-comb, shells, and other marble granulates are all visible in the marble. Two drawers are housed in the apron, each with turned, inset mahogany knobs. A brass escutcheon surrounds a keyhole between the drawers, however the lock does not function. The proportional legs are masterfully turned in a candlestick / balustrade form. A shaped undertier shelf braces the legs and presents an additional surface for storing or displaying goods and objects. Brass casters enable the server to be moved wherever service is required.
