French 19th Century Oak Writing Desk
-
Description
This petite French 19th Century writing desk made of oak has a very unique, worn leather writing surface. The previous owners of this lovely little desk made a few ‘honest’ repairs using square clippings of leather with gilt crests to cover previous tears in the leather. There are two drawers with working locks and keys supported on square tapered legs, ending in brass sabot feet. You’ll find inlay brass sounding the leather, drawers and legs. This desk is finished on all sides, perfect to place in the middle of a room. C. 1840
