French Empire Walnut Writing Table

Description
A stunning period Empire writing table, c. 1840, found in France. The surface and slides having gilt-tooled tan leather blotters, above an apron with a central long drawer flanked by two short drawers, one of which has a later gilt-brass knob. Each burl-walnut veneered drawer features well-detailed escutcheons. The whole rests on square tapering legs with gilt-brass sabot feet.
