Description Considered a founder of American modernist design, the Yale architect George Nelson became the Director of Design at Herman Miller in 1947. The steel frame line was created as an economical alternative to the classic polished wood case pieces of the day with the steel skeleton separate from the drawer components, allowing versatility of final color and design. This desk is Model 4111 designed in the 1950s and has a later two-color paint of olive green and blue/grey with a white laminate top. In good condition, though later paint has chipped in place to reveal the original yellow and bright green color way.
