Description This exceptional dining table was designed by Gio Ponti in the early 1940s. The rectangular top in veneered Italian walnut is resting on four tapered fluted legs. The striking fluted, grooved pattern can also be found in the distinct edges of the table.

This particular Ponti trademark can be found in the interior of the rectorate at the University of Padua, which he designed in the early 1940s. The fluted, grooved motif also returns in the furniture designed by Ponti for the Villa La Quiete dell’Alpino in Stresa, which was the home of Gianni Mazzocchi, the editor of Domus magazine.

The table is in overall good condition, with a nice and warm patina. Minor signs of wear consistent with age and use. Accompanied by a signed certificate from the Gio Ponti Archives, number 20082.
