60's Coffee Table, by Giuseppe Scapinelli, Brazilian Mid-Century Modern

Sold Sold
  • Description
Unlike the straight lines and geometric shapes, popular at the time, Giuseppe Scapinelli’s creations are made with gentle curves, tapered edges, and more organic forms. His creations can be recognized immediately because of his singular sculptural style.
Beautiful and very elegant, this coffee table designed in the 60s is a great example of his style. The structure is made of a balance between natural and ebonized caviuna wood and a glass top.

The piece is not restored yet. We do work with the best craftsmen, so we can restore and reupholster them guaranteeing a high-end and polished finish.

Scapinelli was originally from Italy, but it was in Brazil, during the post-war period, that he created his most important pieces, bringing a different perspective to the Brazilian design production at that period.
Born in Modena, Sérgio studied architecture in Florence, after graduation he moved to São Paulo, where he opened the design studio that would launch his career, Atelier Scapinelli.
Giuseppe also worked beautifully with ceramics, painting, and sculpture, and only in the early 50s, he has started his career drawing furniture. Today, he is considered one of the most expressive names which have produced in Brazil at the time.
