Magnificent large English library pedestal partners desk with chinoiserie decoration overall. Original desk constructed in early 19th century and the chinoiserie decoration is late 1900.

English regency style chinoiserie decorated partners desk, red lacquer, parcel gilt and polychrome decorated with rectangular top inset with a section embossed leather writing surface bordered by 4 claw dragons chasing the flaming pearl amid cloud scroll. The rounded corners decorated with stylised foliage within a simulated bamboo frame over a conforming case fitted to one side with frieze drawers over a kneehole flanked by cupboards opening to a shelved interior, the opposing side with four banks of drawers to either side with central drawer over the kneehole, all within faux bamboo borders and chinoiserie decorated with figures, architecture, birds and animals in scenic landscapes.

Wick Antiques was established by Charles Wallrock in the early 1980s. Having grown up in the Antiques world Charles developed an extensive wealth of knowledge. Starting out as a ‘man with a van’ he quickly gained a good reputation and embarked on a longstanding relationship with Harrods. He was later joined by his wife, Caroline Wallrock.
