Description A highly important pair of Louis XV period wall mount console tables, circa 1740. In carved and
gilded wood, each with their original Rouge Royale marble tops resting on a pierced serpentine
apron composed of foliate volutes, adorned at the center with a heart-shaped motif surrounded
by rocaille shells. Supported on pierced cabriole legs adorned with acanthus volutes that
descend from cartouches and terminate with inwardly scrolled acanthus feet, joined by a
stretcher composed of C-scrolls with a central shell form cartouche decorated with fruits and
foliage. Evidence of old repair to marble. Very old pine structural reinforcements underneath marble.
