Signed by Philip & Kelvin LaVerne on the bottom, this coffee table is aptly named "the House of Happiness". Part of the Chan collection of chinoiserie-inspired tables has been beautifully crafted in patinated bronze and pewter with hand-applied enamel.
Their first series focused on historical civilizations, such as China, Greece, Rome, and Egypt with elements inspired from mythology. The pieces were both modern and traditional, and became the focal points of many high end interiors. The two often buried their works in special soil which would age the metal and give it the appearance of antiquity. Their experimentation with metals and chemical reactions was unique.
