Philip LaVerne Important Sculpture Game Table with Carved Hands 1966 (Signed)
-
Description
One-of-a-kind sculpture game table in teak with book-matched Carpathian elm top with 2 drawers on opposite sides, each with a carved articulated hand over it, by Philip LaVerne, American 1966 (signed on top “Philip LaVerne”). The sculpted tapering legs are works of art. Philip LaVerne experimented using wood as a medium for one year. These works from this series are extremely rare. The craftsmanship is simply superb with dovetail construction of the drawers and hand-sculpted joinery at the corners that is second to none. Even the bottom is completely finished. This is a tour de force of design and craftsmanship.
