Description WROUGHT IRON TABLE 22K GOLD LEAF ENTRY TABLE WITH MARBLE TOP BY RAYMOND SUBES biography: (FRENCH 1893-1970) SUBES IS ONE OF THE MOST RENOWNED FRENCH METALWORKER OF THE ART DECO PERIOD. HE BECAME DIRECTOR OF THE METAL WORKSHOP, BRODEREL & ROBERT, A MAJOR ARCHITECTURAL CONSTRUCTION COMPANY, IN 1919. MOST OF HIS WORK WAS ON GOVERNMENT COMMISSIONS, SUCH AS THE NORMANDIE, AND OTHER IMPORTANT OCEAN LINERS OF THE PERIOD. SUBES INITIALLY WORKED IN WROUGHT IRON, OCCASIONALLY IN BRONZE AND COPPER. BY THE 1930'S HE WAS ALSO WORKING IN ALUMINUM AND OXIDIZED OR LACQUERED STEEL
