'La Naïve' Wall Console

$ 55,000
  • Description
    A bejeweled masterpiece of design and craftsmanship as well as a sensual evocation of the beauties of Nature, ‘The Naïve’ embodies spring. Handcrafted in Paris, this exquisite unique wall console features cascades of Taher Chemirik's signature flowers sculpted one by one. Some of the golden and gunmetal grey brass flowers have a polished, mirrored effect obtained from galvanization. Others were brushed and others distressed with a hammer. These different finishes as well as the reflection of the flower petals in the black mirrored glass top make the piece all the more lyrical.

    Long time jewelry artist, since 2012 Taher Chemirik has been designing furniture and lights for Galerie BSL that are like true jewels for the home. His personal touch as a jeweler applied to large pieces places his work in a dimension of its own in contemporary creation. These ‘Interior Treasures’ are each unique pieces handmade in Paris in fine and timeless materials such as brass, copper, wood and rare hard stones. Each of these creations has the beauty of a sculpture, is dense as well as sensual, is refined and dramatic, and joins contemporary strength with fine workmanship of the decorative arts.

    Taher Chemirik’s love of Nature and personal vision of the world inspire him in the creation of sculptural and functional works that are both poetic and structured, lyrical and architectured, flamboyant and balanced. In 2014, two years after the beginning of the ‘Interior Treasures' collection showcased in 2012 at Design Miami/ fair, Taher Chemirik’s ‘Calligraphy II’ oxidized steel screen was acquired to enter the permanent collection of the Museum of Arts and Design in New York, sealing his reputation as a poet of the object.

    Born in 1955, Taher Chemirik is a graduate of the ENSAD, L’École Nationale Supérieure des Arts Décoratifs de Paris. Since 1990, he has collaborated as a jeweler with some of the world’s most prestigious fashion labels, including Chloé, Balenciaga, Chanel, Yves Saint Laurent, and Roger Vivier. He was named one of the world’s most influential designers in 2007 by Time Magazine for his eponymous line of high-end jewelry which includes oversized links, drop-like petals, and ebony wood. Three of his jewelry pieces are included in the permanent collaboration of the Musée des Arts Décoratifs de Paris.
