Description A contemporary wooden coffee table, the rectangular top with inset favrile glass tiles produced by Tiffany Studios which were produced in the early 20th century.

Tiffany Studios was established by Louis Comfort Tiffany, son of the founder of Tiffany & Co., in 1902. Louis C. Tiffany's firm became world-renowned for their work in glass, including blown favrile glass vases, leaded glass "Tiffany lamps" and windows, and architectural glass mosaics. The company produced pressed favrile glass tiles and tesserae in a variety of sizes, shapes, textures and color options which the firm would utilize to ornament both small-scale decorative objects and large-scale architectural features like fireplace surrounds.

When Tiffany Studios closed in the early 1930s following the death of its founder, the company sold off nearly everything that remained behind, including surplus loose glass tiles.
Hundreds of these 3”x3” favrile glass tiles with raised quatrefoil design in the center were sold off at the sale, which were then acquired by Lillian Nassau in the 1960s.

These tiles were acquired by a client from our gallery in the 1980s; the clients had 55 of them mounted into a sleek coffee table, which is now offered for sale at Lillian Nassau LLC.
