Unique example of a side table by Warren McArthur part of a group of furniture commissioned in stainless steel by Union Carbide for the terrace of a summer home in Glen Cove N.Y..
This table's design can be found on page 50 of the 1936 Warren McArthur Corporation catalog as Style No. 1558 - 5.
The stainless steel awning frame for the terrace was featured along with a complete documentation of the Warren McArthur furnishings in an article in Union Carbide's journal on stainless steel projects Electromet published in November, 1936.
A single installation view from the same photo session was used by Warren McArthur as the frontice photo of an advertising pamphlet that makes no mention of this unique use of stainless steel instead starts off with "SMART NEW WARREN MCARTHUR CREATIONS IN ANODIC ALUMINUM....VIRTUALLY INDESTRUCTIBLE AND UNTARNISHABLE.
The lacquered top has issues from 85 years of use and the stainless steel frame shows wear consistent with age but no structural damage overall the table is in good condition.

A slat back sofa, a pair of Arizona Biltmore lounge chairs with a single ottoman, a pair of "Light Lounge" lounge chairs, a pair of armchairs, a pair of smoking stands one of which is available (Its twin is in the collection of the Carnegie Museum of Art, Pittsburgh, PA.) a library table, a nest of 3 tables, and this side table.
