Warren Platner dining table with a welded bronze coated steel rod base with original Arabescato Marble top by Knoll late 1960s.
Warren Platner worked for I.M. Pei and Eero Saarinen prior to designing the Platner collection for Knoll in 1962.
He worked with both of the industrial and organic design giants before turning his attention to steel wire furniture, for which he devised the structure and production method.
The table base can take as many as 400 welds, crafted out of steel wire, finished in bronze and space.
The four bronze based armchairs that were originally purchased with the table as a dining set are shown in the last photo and are listed separately.
The table is in very good vintage condition.
